Classes We Offer
Class Schedule
AAMOC runs 1.5-hour long classes every Saturday, from 9 AM to 12 PM at Tappan Middle School. The first batch of classes will be from 9:00am — 10:30am, and the second batch of classes will be from 10:30am — 12:00pm.
There will be a quick 10 minute rest after every hour of class where students will be provided with snacks (powdered doughnuts, granola bars, or cheez-its) and drinks.
Level I Class
Time: 9:00am - 10:30am

Teachers: Mr. Babu Yarlagadda (Section A) and Mr. Anil Nair (Section B)
Student Teachers: Anantika Nair and Taha Jazaeri Moghadas (Section A) and Avantika Nair and Ishaan Kamat (Section B)
Textbook: Creative Problem Solving in School Mathematics (2nd Edition)
Level 1 introduces new students to AAMOC's advanced math curriculum, by starting off with creative problem-solving. Students learn to solve complex and tricky problems that require them to 'think out of the box.' This class prepares students for early math competitions, like MOEMS.
Level II Class
Time: 9:00am - 10:30am

Teachers: Mrs. Vidya Ramanathan (Section A) and Dr. Amir Abolhassani (Section B)

Student Teachers: Radhika Bhide and Joey Brar (Section A) and Vedulasre Manikandan Sankari and Bhaavna Senthil Kumar (Section B)
Textbook: Online Book (free of charge)
Students apply creative problem solving skills to introductory topics in algebra and geometry. NEED MORE
Level III Class
Time: 9:00am - 10:30am
Teacher: Mr. Augusto Lee
Student Teacher: Saanvi Mishra
Textbook: Introduction to Algebra by Richard Rusczyk (2nd Edition) and Introduction to Geometry by Richard Rusczyk (2nd Edition)

Students will develop early skills in Algebra and Geometry, which will introduce them to more complex mathematics. This is the start of the AMC math competition route, which is highly important in college applications.
Level IV Class
Time: 9:00 - 10:30
Teacher: Mr. Jay Nayegandhi
Student Teacher: Nihar Gundala
Textbook: Level III textbooks and Introduction to Counting and Probability by David Patrick (2nd Edition)
Students have a background knowledge on some complex concepts in algebra and geometry. They're given the opportunity to develop skills in concepts such as probability and number theory, which prepares them for intermediate math competitions like AMC8.
Level V Class
Time: 9:00am - 10:30am
Teacher: Dr. Soma Venkat
Student Teacher: Minjoon Kim
Textbook: Volume 1: the Basics by Sandor Lehoczky and Richard Rusczyk (7th Edition) and Volume 2: and Beyond by Richard Rusczyk and Sandor Lehoczky (7th Edition)

By the time your child reaches Level 5, they will have a solid understanding in all elementary branches of mathematics, such as geometry, algebra, number theory, and counting and probability. Now, they will apply these topics into much deeper fields, as the problems get harder exponentially. They will be introduced to complex numbers and advanced inequalities.
Level VI Class
Time: 9:00am - 10:30am
Teacher: Professor Pramod Sangi Reddy and Professor Y Z
Student Teachers: Zimou Zhang and Siddharth Sangi

Textbook: Precalculus by Richard Rusczyk (2nd Edition)

Level 6 is the highest level of math AAMOC offers, diving deep into linear algebra, complex numbers, trigonometry, probability, and more! The topics include vectors and matrices, roots of unity, combinatorics, and discrete probability. Professor Reddy and Professor Z teach these topics alternately. This class will prepare you for AMC 10/12, and will cover some AIME topics as well. Most of these topics can be found in the Art of Problem Solving (AoPS): Precalculus.

AMC 8 Class
Time: 10:30am - noon
Teacher: Kulwarn Parmar
Student Teacher: Gurnoor Sembhi

The AMC 8 class prepares middle schoolers for the AMC 8 exam. In the course, students will learn test taking tips along with how to think quickly and outside of the box.

AMC 10/12 Class
Time: 10:30am - noon
Teacher: Daniel Zhou

The AMC 10/12 class strives to enhance students' experiences and abilities in competition math. Throughout the school year, we dive deeply into topics such as complex numbers, modulo congruences, geometry, combinatorics, and algebra. Students who have completed this course in past years have found it both greatly challenging and greatly rewarding.

Special Topics Class
Time: 10:30am - noon
Teacher: Dr. Michael Jones

The Special Topics class is a class for Student Teachers. In this class, we delve deep into unique mathematical concepts that are applicable in real-world scenarios. Often times, these are concepts that interlink math with various topics (such as Economics or Statistics).

Exploratory Chemistry Class
Time: 10:30am - noon
Teacher: Dr. Ajitha Devarajan and Mr. Alexander Gaenko
Exploratory Physics Class
Time: 10:30am - noon
Teacher: Mr. Igor Ivanitskiy
Exploratory Computer Science Class / ACSL
Time: 10:30am - noon
Teacher: Sounak Debnath and Victor Tarca

The Exploratory Computer Science class introduces to students of all levels a variety of foundational and advanced computer science concepts through engaging, hands-on activities. The course covers key topics such as computer programming, data structures, bit manipulation, digital electronics, recursion, and graph theory. The class emphasizes critical thinking, computational logic, and coding proficiency, preparing students for both the American Computer Science League (ACSL) competition and further studies in computer science.
Safe Driving and Car Maintenance
Time: TBD
Teacher: Mr. Hassani

The Safe Driving and Car Maintenance workshop is a hands-on learning experience in which students (and adults) can learn basic vehicular maintenance and safe driving practices. Students learn what each part of the car engine is for, the process for diagnosing different engine problems, and will even get to help perform a tire change and oil change with Mr. Hassani. This class is held once a year over the summer.
