University of Michigan commencement will be on Saturday May 1st and President Obama will be in town. I have contacted the city of Ann Arbor and found out that parts of South Main Street and Stadium, Boulevard will be closed from 12:00 AM to 2:00 PM on Saturday.
a. Avoid driving on the streets near Stadium
b. Allow at least 20 minutes extra time to navigate your way to Tappan and find a parking.
2. I am looking for a couple of volunteers to look into equipping our students with a tote bag during the summer. Volunteers will investigate size, shape, color, material, cost, print design, quality, and sourcing. The idea is to issue each student a tote bag where he/she can keep his/her study material as well as his/her T shirt. I notice many students show up without the T shirt that AAMOC parents paid dearly ($12.50/each). I hope students find tote bag useful and do not forget to wear their T shirts on Saturdays. I am open to any idea. Please see me or send me a note.
3. AAMOC has 4 student volunteers who are graduating from high school in June. They are excellent students with several college credits, very responsible and have many talents. Please contact me if you are in a position to help any of these four students with summer job to earn some income, or a summer internship to build up their resume/experience. Your help could be simply passing their resume, or pointing them to the right person/opportunity, or even offering them a position. This way, not only we reward AAMOC student volunteerism, but also we want to show case them to our current AAMOC student as a way of success in staying with AAMOC program. Thank you.
