Respecting Tappan Teachers' Rooms and AAPS Property Incidents
Issue
AAMOC has violated its own rule on "Respecting Tappan Teachers' Rooms and AAPS Properties" twice this year.
- Monday, September 19, 2011: Room 243 - "missing some of my colorful/designed binder clips and my bookshelf was messed up. Someone had been playing with my paperclips/binder clips because there were initials spelled out on my desk".
- Monday, September 26, 2011: Room 207 - "missing a door stop" and board was not erased.
AAMOC did not have such a violation reported for more than 6 consecutive years until now.
AAMOC Leadership Action
AAMOC's founder visited Tappan teachers, apologized and replaced missing items on September 19th and 26th.
Request Specific Actions from AAMOC parent members
- Please talk with your son/daughter about these two incidents.
- Let your child know that it takes only one careless action to raise an issue.
- Although these issues seem minor, it is important that Tappan teachers teaching are not disturbed on the Monday morning after each AAMOC weekend class – i.e. Tappan teachers don't have time to find missing /displaced items on Monday morning.
- Explain to your daughter/son the consequence of continued violations (No Respect = AAMOC out of Tappan).
- Student MUST leave all rooms undisturbed and clean – nothing changed, damaged or moved around, even an open book must not be closed, do not use any room supply, no food is allowed in any room, windows shut, etc.
- Advise your child to feel comfortable to let any AAMOC leader/parent know if there is any accidental problem so we can fix it before we leave on Saturdays
AAMOC is a Co-op Club
AAMOC needs one or two parent volunteers per class to check each room before students' arrival and after their departure to make sure nothing has changed in each room. Please let your child class teacher know if you like to take up this task and you will be added to the list.
Please cooperate so AAMOC can continue to serve the community. AAMOC is a 100% volunteer, non-profit, registered organization and has been growing in size and quality for some 10 years now. All volunteers, except student teachers, are parents, have family and job responsibilities, and like most people are very busy. AAMOC's founder had to miss work twice this month (half day each time) in order to take care of Tappan classroom issues. Please consider putting yourself in his place. I think it is not acceptable to ask any volunteer to miss his/her work time to attend avoidable issues. It is also not acceptable to disturb Tappan classrooms.
Thank you
AAMOC Volunteer Leadership Team
Regards,
Mohammad Hassani
